He tried to make his way as a Mercenary, but struggled to find work in the world left behind after the Mercenary Wars. Rather than join with the Corporations, he turned to organised crime to make money.

Hyeon led a gang called the Scar Sharks when he first met Keanu and Natsumi. He sought after a rumoured Dragon Bullet, that he believed Keanu to be in possession of. After failing to negotiate with him, Hyeon lured Keanu into a confrontation. However he soon learnt that the weapon he wanted was actually a technique, and Keanu used it to defeat him.
He was handed over to the authorities, but was freed mid transit by Hana.
