DEMIN

Demin are divine creatures, with roots in Sephronian mythology and are associated with the Gods. Used as totems to pray for blessings and good fortune, but can curse a person who insults the totem.

The Great Forest Ape

Revered in the nation of Affe.
An ape with trees sprouting from its back. Said to move across the nation; you may wake up one morning to find the nearby moor has sprouted a forest.
Represents strength and resilience; in legend he protected the nations independence from outsiders, refusing the offers of a wealthy Vampire, a Lycan war-chief and even the Tyranno Emperor himself. He refused their entry into the country and held firm against their offers and bribes.
His totem stands at the entrance to gates and castles, as a symbol of protection and defiant protection.

The Solar Squirrel

Revered in Esquillo.
As the smallest of the divine spirits, the squirrel was looked down on by the others as insignificant. However, when the sun was dying, the other spirits panicked and hid from the end of the world. The brave little squirrel however, offered its own spirit to restart the sun. He was forged with the sun by Vulcan, becoming the sun itself. He became a totem of humility and the importance of the small creatures of the world.
Blaze Tree Rats are seen as divine due to their link with the sun and the element of fire.

The Immortal Phoenix

Revered in Esquillo and Tenshi.
A symbol of rebirth and the companion of Saturn. When the squirrel became the sun, he lacked the power to move across the sky. As a result, the nation of Tenshi fell into a seemingly endless Winter. to save them, the Phoenix pulled the sun across the sky. However the effort killed him; Saturn reversed time during the night to resurrect the Phoenix, and allow him to repeat his journey the next day.
This legend fell out of fashion, after the world was discovered to be round, but the Phoenix is still a common symbol found on clocks as a result of the old myths.
The symbolism of the flame travel across the sky is the reason for fireworks being used at New year, representing the beginning of the new cycle.

The Golden Wood Dragon

Revered by Shenlong.
The Golden Dragon snakes beneath the country of Shenlong, rising the mountain range in its wake and forming the ranges unusual shape.
It is seen as a symbol of peace and harmony; the dragon kept the other Demin in line and from fighting with one another, most infamously it brought balance to the twin dragons of chaos.

The White and Black Twin Dragons of Chaos

Revered in Drago and Phenix respectively.
Twins representing conflicting ideals; light and dark, compassion and passion, peace and violence. The White dragon ruled over the sky and the Black dragon over the land.
They once threatened to destroy the world, but found compromise thanks to the efforts of the Golden Dragon. As such they are depicted as moving in synchronised movements. If the dragons are depicted as being out of sync, then they will bring misfortune to the household they reside in.

The Island Wolf

Revered in the country of Lobo.
Often represented as a tragic cautionary tale, of how one should be humble and honour their pack and family. He is also depicted as a cunning warrior, often used as a totem for hunters.
His story is of how he impressed the Moon God Luna with a small stone, which due to its simple form was able to reflect Sol’s light at night, creating the moon. In return his people were granted immense power by the moons phases. However he grew greedy, and tricked the god into creating a second, larger moon, by convincing her that Sol was laughing at the fist, smaller moon when her back was turned at night. When Luna learned the truth, she banished the Wolf’s pack to the stars and gave guardianship of the moon to the humble Rabbit instead.

The Moon Rabbit

Revered by Vampirica.
The guardian of the moon in many folklore and is often depicted as the cunning nemesis to the Wolf, who routinely fails to capture her.
She was granted guardianship of the moon by Luna, and is said to reside there, protecting it from those that would fly too high towards it.
As the totem of hunters, she is rumoured to have saved a band from a winter snow storm by bouncing through the jungle, lighting lamps as she went. As such, lanterns shaped like rabbits can be found in popular hunting grounds, waiting to be lit by passing hunters to find their way home.
Vampiricans honour the rabbit, for triumphing over their ancient enemy, the Lycan spirit of the Wolf.

The Imperial Rex

Revered in Tyranno.
The Imperial Rex is said to be the first creature born when the world was formed, as king of the beasts. Of all dinos, his is the symbol used by Emperors and military leaders.
In legend, he was defeated by the snakes it used to trample, becoming the plains of tyranno. The snakes fed on the Rex, growing strong and becoming the first dragons. The moral that leaders took was not to look down on the smaller creatures under their feet.
It is said that if the Imperial Rex ever wakes, it will bring about the destruction of Tyranno and potentially the World.

The Black Guardian Golem

A symbol of protection for the people of Tenshi, said to be constructed by the God Vulcan to told up a mountain that threatened to crush the villages below. The Golem still resided, holding up the mountain; it was possibly carved by ancient civilisations, but without proper records their is no way to prove its origins.
Golems are still carved in parts of Tenshi, sold as totem of protection and security (or cheap nick-nacks for tourists and traders).

The Lighting Dog

Revered by Spartans.
The companion of Jupiter, the dog arrived in the form of a lightning bolt before the worthy.
Said to guide heroes to their destiny; most famously they were associated with the original five shaman, guiding them to the drums of Jupiter.
He appears in many legends involving heroes.

The Titan Shark

Revered by the Atlanteans.
King of the seas, the titan shark is said to be colossal in size, and larger than the other Demin.
Seem as the ruler of the seas, it only eats the unworthy who swim out of their depth. The first king of Atlantis is said to have bested the Shark in battle and took its eye with a large fork. Both the Fork and Eye are popular symbols of Atlantean strength, with the eye featured on many important relics and artwork.
The Eye is used on ships, to ensure passage across the sea safely.

The Swimming Desert Tiger

Revered by the Ikati.
The tiger swims through the desert sands, occasionally surfacing to eat its pray. It’s a symbol of hunters, remaining unseen in plain sight until it’s ready to strike.
She is also associated with games and mischief; the tiger stole the staff of the God Uranus, and still has it to this day. Uranus with his poor eyesight can only spot her from his cloud during the day, which is why Felines are more active during the night.

The Great Cave Bat

Revered in Vampirica.
A massive bat with stones covering its wings and back; it lands and creates a dome, forming a massive cave. Other people see the cave as dangerous because of this, while Vampires see it as a comfort, as the bat protects them and provides shelter.
It is rumoured that the cave saved the Vampirica army from the Lycan forces during a retreat; the Wolves were too scared to explore the caves and starved themselves into retreat out in the forest, while the Vampire’s were cared for by the bat.
